Become A Guide Dogs Member.
Joining Guide Dogs will cost you £20 per year. As they say themselves, ‘By becoming a member, you will have a stake in Guide Dogs and a say in what they do. You will be entitled to vote at their Annual General Meeting (AGM), and be informed about their work and the issues that matter to people who are registered blind or partially sighted.’.
Tell Us Your Story.
At present Guide Dogs controls the narrative. They have the PR machine, a communications team, marketing and fundraising departments. They also have the budget to advertise on television. We want to know about your life as a guide dog owner. We want to hear about your experiences – and not just the stories that raise funds.
Spread The Word.
Guide dog owners, like their dogs, are great at networking. I’ve certainly kept in touch with other owners with whom I was on training. Please tell others about the ‘Owners Take the Lead’ campaign.
